Taira Kuroki is a Japanese ceramic artist based in Kameoka, Kyoto, known for his refined white-glazed and Oribe wares. His vessels feature thin, precisely formed silhouettes that feel sharp yet elegant, balancing structural clarity with quiet grace. Kuroki’s work is distinguished by the interplay between deep, lustrous glazes and subtle matte surfaces, giving each piece a composed and dignified presence. Working with Oribe, ash, iron black, and kiln-altered porcelain fired in a self-built charcoal kiln, he creates ceramics that enhance food, flowers, and tea while maintaining a strong character of their own.
