Pedestal Swallow & Leaf Mug

A poetic design by Japanese ceramic artist Mio Tomine, this elegant pedestal mug features two embossed swallows in flight, surrounded by hand-painted indigo leaves. The rim is finished with a soft brown glaze, adding warmth to the calm ivory tone of the clay.

Each piece is individually handmade and kiln-fired, allowing subtle variations in color, glaze texture, and relief detail — traces of its unique journey through the kiln. The pedestal base gives it a refined presence, making it perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, afternoon tea, or a peaceful evening drink.

Care Instruction:

• Before first use, soak the bowl briefly in hot water or boil gently to help seal the clay.

• Before serving, soak it in clean water to reduce staining from tea or sauces.

• After use, rinse promptly and dry completely before storing. Avoid soaking it with other dishes.

• Tiny pinholes, glaze crackles, and specks of iron are part of the handmade process and will develop a richer patina with time.
